Family Bushcraft Camping Testimonials

"I just wanted to let you know how much Steve and I and the children enjoyed our two days in the woods with you. It was all and more than we hoped for and full credit to you both for having such a fantastic concept and creating it so beautifully. I wandered to walk this morning by the riverside looking at the trees and trying to see if I could recognise them - I'm certainly more aware but still have some way to go but hank you for what you did manage to teach me! Once again - thanks you so very very much!"

"I'd like to thank you for a lovely weekend! We all learnt a lot over the course of the two days; from instruction, observation and from being given space and time to try things for ourselves. Thank you."

"It was great for our children to see yours there alongside you whilst you ran the weekend as it would have helped them to feel that it was real family time to be shared by all. Over-all, my experience was entirely positive. Food was great. Plenty of tea/ coffee/biscuits. Wonderful setting. Just need to do more of it really!"

"SO sorry not to get in touch sooner, it has been that sort of month! The absolute highlight of which was the family bushcraft camping. We all got Sooo much out of it, thank you. The fact that the children and I slept until 8 and had to be woken by hot chocolate spoke volumes to me, and we all slept like that for the following few days. I particularly valued the opening session, sitting quietly and 'arriving' in the woods. The timely provision of child focussed workshops was also crucial in enabling us grown ups to focus on the den building, but also getting chance to relax and really enjoy it ourselves. I appreciated having your children there too, it felt reassuring that whatever happened we were all in it together and knowing you understand entirely some of the potential challenges of a night in the wood with little ones."

"The children learnt an awful lot and Molly shared a lot about her weekend with her teacher and class mates. In particular they talked about the charcoal making and the fire from the bow. I loved having extra learning woven right through the two days with the walk, and the story telling for example. The timings worked well for us and were well suited to family life. Touches like the extra bedding provided, and the catering, kept it on the pleasurable side of adventuring."

"All in all it was an absolutely magical experience that gave us all confidence and commitment to do it again and again. Thank you for providing it for us in such a thoughtful and generous way."

"Our shy 7 year old daughter really came out of herself on the Family Bushcraft weekend – she enjoyed all the activities. It has really boosted her confidence- her teacher has remarked on the change."

And a Tweet!...."Best ever weekend family bushcraft camping @Wood_matters. Highly recommend it to anyone (families too), you will not regret it! woodmatters.org.uk"

"Thanks again for a great weekend – we all really enjoyed it. Freya took her coat hook and King Alfred’s buns into school yesterday and was asked to stand up in assembly to tell everyone what she had been up to (a first!). Much as it might surprise you, she really isn’t very confident, but she did seem to bloom at the weekend and she really got a buzz out of it all. We will definitely be coming Backwoods camping next year, so please can you let me know the likely dates."
