Make your own Pole Lathe and learn how to use it

A two day course new for 2021. An exciting opportunity to build your own pole lathe and learn the basics of how to use it by turning a variety of items such as rolling pins, dibbers, rounders bats, coffee dampers, spurtles!

On Day One you will assemble your very own pole lathe and be introduced to its use. You will spend the afternoon starting to learn how to master the subtle, rhythmical, slightly hypnotic treadle action combined with careful angling of the chisel to turn your work.

Day Two will see you learning a range of turning techniques using the different chisels to create various items such as rolling pins, dibbers, rounders bats, coffee dampers, spoon blanks, spurtles!

At the end of the course you will take home your very own pole lathe to continue enjoying for years to come

"Many thanks for such a good weekend pole lathing. It was great to have so much patient support and encouragement when trying to learn a new skill. The lathe is now set up in the garden and I’m looking forward to using it again very soon."

I just wanted to let you know how much Steve and I and the children enjoyed our two days in the woods with you. It was all and more than we hoped for and full credit to you both for having such a fantastic concept and creating it so beautifully. I wandered to walk this morning by the riverside looking at the trees and trying to see if I could recognise them - I'm certainly more aware but still have some way to go but hank you for what you did manage to teach me! Once again - thanks you so very very much!
