Orin’s BioBlitz
A Bioblitz is an intense period of biological surveying over 24 hours in an attempt to record all the living species within a designated area.
Orin's BioBlitz took place at National Trust Footprint Windermere...and wow what a weekend!!
Orin Thomas (11yrs old at time of the event) was inspired by attending another local Bioblitz. He wanted to share his passion for the natural world so decided to organise his own. An amazing 162 people of all ages came over the weekend. Orin was supported by many volunteer recorders, specialists, helpers, friends and others who all shared their enthusiasm so freely. The 24hr survey recorded a staggering 468 species!

“What a richly bio-diverse and special place we live in. Knowing we share this land with so many other living species highlights the importance of caring for and protecting the delicate balance of habitats around us”
