Orin’s BioBlitz

A Bioblitz is an intense period of biological surveying over 24 hours in an attempt to record all the living species within a designated area.

Orin's BioBlitz took place in July 2019 at National Trust Footprint Windermere...and wow what a weekend!!

Orin (11yrs old at time of the event) says a big thank you to all the amazing 162 people who came to his Bioblitz over the weekend, and especially to all the volunteer recorders, specialists, helpers, friends and others for sharing your enthusiasm so freely.

The 24hr survey ran from 3.45pm Sat to 3.45pm Sunday and we recorded a staggering 468 species!

What a richly bio- diverse and special place we live in. Knowing we share this land with so many other living species highlights the importance of caring for and protecting the delicate balance of habitats around us
